How to make Greek Chicken Gyros with Tzatziki Sauce and Pita Flatbread

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken fillet

Marinade

  • 3 piece of garlic
  • 1 tbsp of vinegar
  • 3 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp of yogurt
  • 1 tbsp of oregano
  • a pinch of salt
  • a bit Black pepper

Tzatziki

  • 2 pieces of cucumber
  • 1 plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp of apple vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1/2 garlic
  • 1/2 tsp of salt

Salad

  • 3 tomatoes
  • 3 cucumbers
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

1To start, put all of the marinade ingredients in a medium bowl or a zip lock plastic bag and then mashed it until it combines well. Then, add a piece of chicken into the zip lock plastic bag and shake it out until the chicken covered with marinade. Let it stand around 12 hours or overnight.

2Next, cut the cucumber into an elongated shape. You can use a knife to remove all the seed out. Grate a cucumber with a grater tool. After it is done, prepare a clean wet towel then squeeze it out to remove excess liquid. Put the cucumber out in a bowl and combine it with the ingredients that you have already made. Set aside around 20 minutes.

3In making the salad, put all the ingredients and mix it. You can use yogurt, lemon juice, mayonnaise, or another kind of toppings as your own. Then, grill the chicken with olive oil or vegetable oil.

4Cook the chicken on a medium heat around 2- 3 minutes until the color become brown. Remove it from grill and then cover the chicken with foil and let it rest around 5 minutes. Prepare a flatbread in a piece of foil. Place the salad in the bread. Cover it with the chicken and Tzatziki. Then wrap it out.
